Thought I would send a little bit of love to the people of Boston and contribute to the "to Boston with love" project sponsored by the <a href="http://vancouvermodernquiltguild.ca/blog/" target="_blank">Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild</a>. I did the heart one first and really enjoyed the process so I went ahead and made the bird one. I loved the pink heart but really wanted to brighten it up with the yellow and orange bird. They sewed up so quick and easy, pretty instant gratification with this one and it will hopefully send some love and cheer to the people of Boston. If you are interested in contributing check out the <a href="http://vancouvermodernquiltguild.ca/blog/" target="_blank">Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild</a> blog for instructions and inspiration.Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00018939579531449759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784279713521170025.post-7042386015781349292013-04-09T10:13:00.001-07:002013-04-09T10:13:18.356-07:00Sorta quilting<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So I haven't been doing that much in terms of working on quilts. Mainly because I am unpacking my sewing area and a few of my things are still at my parent's house. I have, however, been working on bags, lots and lots of bags. </div>

I have also been working on several more utilitarian type bags. The Ikea fabric above was used to make a huge swimming bag for the spring and summer. And due to the recent Austin plastic bag ban (yay!) I have been making lots of reusable shopping bags. I already had some bags that I would use but I frequently forget to bring them with me so having extras to tuck away in the car and in my purse has been so handy. In fact I have plans on making more to have in every possible knook and cranny! Hopefully soon I will get back to making some quilts but I am really enjoying this bag craziness that has come over me!Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00018939579531449759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784279713521170025.post-83038344457771400432013-03-19T21:54:00.000-07:002013-03-19T21:54:35.332-07:00Not Really<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The past month and a half has been a whirl. We have been living in Fort Worth and Austin, trying out a new job in Fort Worth. My parents live in Fort Worth so we had a place to stay and we were making preparations to move but the job just wasn't what we thought it would be. So we started looking in Austin and found what seems to be a really great place for my husband. He starts work next week but he is excited about it which wasn't really the case with the last place. I did a bit a quilting while we were there, piecing some of the quilt above, working on a few tote bags. I did a lot more crocheting and embroidery, and some writing. I also packed a lot on the days we were in Austin. While in Austin I had an amazing time volunteering at Quilt Con, I was so inspired while there and really rekindled my love of the city of Austin. I didn't really want to move, I like it here. My Husband had the same feelings. I am glad we are staying, now just to unpack. </div>

I saw Tula Pink's "Nightshade" line at my LQS and absolutely fell in love with it. I just had to buy it. Never has fabric spoken to me so clearly. I am a purple girl, I have always loved black, and grey has become one of my new favorite colors. This fabric also walks the line of darkness so nicely, it's a little goth but with some elegance.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I made this quilt top, all original, from my mind, no pattern. Sure it's a simple design but there is something about designing it yourself, I guess it just reminds me that I am a person, not a parrot. Anyways, I have been holding off on quilting this because it needs to be free motion quilted, it told me so. Ideally I would love to quilt some spiderwebs all over it, maybe a few stars mixed in. But I struggle with free motion quilting. I practice and I know I need many more hours of practice but I just am not pleased with my results yet which makes it hard to do so. But I have set this goal in my mind.</div>

<br />
For my first quilt of 2013 I wanted to do something a little simple and sweet. I also happened to have the perfect color inspiration on my new kitchen table. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbugu4gXxGTCYyU-tMHU4BZDDnfYfwNzaV2DQG4OW2kTbksHoiHHLZ7YgyKrjVmgtBA2r-QEDjKwdC9BcHe-bLfMYJc-lTdT8YTDnm8eo26-f_3W_RbjEb-oztbKnjbS12u_EtT5BWGAs/s1600/photo+%252812%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbugu4gXxGTCYyU-tMHU4BZDDnfYfwNzaV2DQG4OW2kTbksHoiHHLZ7YgyKrjVmgtBA2r-QEDjKwdC9BcHe-bLfMYJc-lTdT8YTDnm8eo26-f_3W_RbjEb-oztbKnjbS12u_EtT5BWGAs/s1600/photo+%252812%2529.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The flowers were an anniversary present from my husband which was the only romantic gift as we both agreed to buy a water filter for ourselves. We are so practical aren't we? I guess maybe in this day and age year 4 is water filter, who needs paper, wood, silver, gold anyway? Maybe year 5 will be a Macbook, year 25 will be a robot, and year 50 we will go on a cruise of the galaxy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu1Ichm8HQD4MRrefpvCNrxQqnelh9p5OyPYKfzF6rdNW0-hLHveg_EJBQu7g2WsWOVe6gI21RDw5XefarMyB4UCQy3_VG1hS-DQOGrR0jCW7eb83lRMmVLHG6a_y9RRI8MUmCgIoZgl0/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu1Ichm8HQD4MRrefpvCNrxQqnelh9p5OyPYKfzF6rdNW0-hLHveg_EJBQu7g2WsWOVe6gI21RDw5XefarMyB4UCQy3_VG1hS-DQOGrR0jCW7eb83lRMmVLHG6a_y9RRI8MUmCgIoZgl0/s1600/photo.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Back to the subject at hand. I did 4.5" squares with 1.5" sashing. I loved the cute little 1.5" squares at the sashing intersections, adorable.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKjlJILxyJ611nXiVvpy7Of__Y24X7nLAiqL0nUyW9G23taEkwC4BV_fWgSeM7fDdFpA87qlhYgeMS0lDYFJzeWQNmFA8LgkVOwaLOn-4eLVElcS9YMxXkHHWXR69tHl8-g6YoJXlp1qs/s1600/photo+%252813%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKjlJILxyJ611nXiVvpy7Of__Y24X7nLAiqL0nUyW9G23taEkwC4BV_fWgSeM7fDdFpA87qlhYgeMS0lDYFJzeWQNmFA8LgkVOwaLOn-4eLVElcS9YMxXkHHWXR69tHl8-g6YoJXlp1qs/s1600/photo+%252813%2529.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I straight line quilted on the diagonal which made diamonds. At the moment it is my favorite way to quilt squares, simple but beautiful.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwHyU2ZQkc2ORYJ9aXQMCDws9F2L9n6tYVsTbEEUZmOy9LPjQwSFTT7SvwuzBthYatGGwdMEhlX0YCehyphenhyphenxQtEjkIDI6kAAsln1qo0nXLMQofr1MzjZfdqtuc-DDm5_cBSQPB10ILB5Clk/s1600/photo+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwHyU2ZQkc2ORYJ9aXQMCDws9F2L9n6tYVsTbEEUZmOy9LPjQwSFTT7SvwuzBthYatGGwdMEhlX0YCehyphenhyphenxQtEjkIDI6kAAsln1qo0nXLMQofr1MzjZfdqtuc-DDm5_cBSQPB10ILB5Clk/s1600/photo+%25282%2529.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I love the outcome, so sweet. I may sell this quilt in a few months, after we are all moved. Yep, you read that right, we are moving. We are moving to Ft. Worth which will be good for us. I am not excited about the actual moving and the fact that I won't be able to do much sewing but I have some embroidery to work on for the time being, books to read, and I have been doing some writing that I will continue to work on. All in all I think I can manage, and I am sure once we are moved in and unpacked I will be sewing up a storm!Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00018939579531449759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784279713521170025.post-44712324969465084472013-01-21T22:25:00.000-08:002013-01-21T22:25:12.093-08:00Better late<br />

This is the last quilt I did in 2012. Now I am quite aware that we are close to a full month into 2013 but at least I am doing it! That has to count for something right?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
These pictures are of the quilt top I did for my brother-in-law. He is one of many who have gone to North Dakota for all the oil jobs up there. I decided to make him a quilt when it started getting chilly here in TX, I figured if I was cold here I could only imagine how cold it is there! I also liked the bit of a challenge a masculine quilt would be for me. Most of the fabric in my stash is floral, bold floral at that, and I have been trying to seek out masculine or unisex prints to add to all that floral. I also have a strange fixation with prints so throwing in the solids was a bit different for me but I think it had an amazing result. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

These quilt blocks were pieced onto paper and were so much fun to make. I absolutely love doing foundation piecing, on paper or fabric, because it seems to go by so quickly. Before I knew it I had all the blocks done! I used <a href="http://filminthefridge.com/2009/04/27/a-string-quilt-block-tutorial-paper-pieced-method/" target="_blank">this</a> tutorial at <a href="http://filminthefridge.com/" target="_blank">film in the fridge</a> except I didn't glue my center string down, I basted it down, and I used the same solid for the edge strings to create the center diamonds.<br />
<br />

<br />
I forgot to take pictures of the finished product but I just stitched in the ditch to quilt it and did a scrappy binding using the prints in the quilt. I love how this quilt turned out, it was one of my favorites to make and I hope to make more like it in the future.Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00018939579531449759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784279713521170025.post-16690971321284386912013-01-06T16:13:00.001-08:002013-01-06T16:13:33.062-08:00Secret Garden<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This quilt was made for my sister-in-law Lillie. I figured it would be the appropriate time to blog about it because her birthday was yesterday! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had been eyeing the fabric for a while at Hancock's when I worked there and just had to pick it up. It was called Secret Garden and I thought it was such a fitting name. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I simply cut the fabric into 6" squares and did a small 1" sashing between those squares. Simple, sweet, and girly. (Who doesn't love girly?) I quilted it with diagonal lines and bound it in an aqua gingham I had. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And to top it off we found a pretty secret place to take pictures of it. I love going to parks and having no one there, makes me feel like I am in my own secret garden!Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00018939579531449759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784279713521170025.post-50976813508063117652013-01-03T14:08:00.000-08:002013-01-03T14:08:47.011-08:00New Year<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So it's been a while, you know how things go, traveling and such. I have also been working on many secret projects which are hard to Blog about. Anyways, I am back and the next few posts will be about quilts I did over the past couple of months.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqBtJ4-UJhrx05TeVL4n6ZTVDEC8q5UlDMD5dCWJ_Jdider7lcVzV9dyw8tXLGhV4T0etHPc_JBszimrCPSW4yYvUpWeWlL1aBD0rKQVM7gaOlXLL0L0Xb96PEl-5f2FSjq1eAqbAWF1s/s1600/photo+(8).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqBtJ4-UJhrx05TeVL4n6ZTVDEC8q5UlDMD5dCWJ_Jdider7lcVzV9dyw8tXLGhV4T0etHPc_JBszimrCPSW4yYvUpWeWlL1aBD0rKQVM7gaOlXLL0L0Xb96PEl-5f2FSjq1eAqbAWF1s/s320/photo+(8).JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
This quilt is one I made for my cousin Missy. I had been wanting to do a quilt with hexagons for a while so I just jumped right in. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh43joPVGfyRW3peu7-uKUzSfYNcP7y4vOoqGaRltcrwlOvepUmYXCzgiN4D8F8XNJ1m3wV3jAeFkLuPr91qAJqDAL8GFiqFKS8N5woy9KDs1J-n1B2twnxsjwBTIYpE_NahdhdEtFqVsE/s1600/photo+(7).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh43joPVGfyRW3peu7-uKUzSfYNcP7y4vOoqGaRltcrwlOvepUmYXCzgiN4D8F8XNJ1m3wV3jAeFkLuPr91qAJqDAL8GFiqFKS8N5woy9KDs1J-n1B2twnxsjwBTIYpE_NahdhdEtFqVsE/s320/photo+(7).JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I machine pieced all of the hexagons which took a little more time and patience then other piecing I do but I think it was so worth the effort.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKCm_xj6pOgfTGtBXbU-AzUsjKGWd5nP17oQNpN532htvUObACF6Ol74dIQK3yVLP2hMpUIuf-eLjym3MrVntH2b3nMyVsHbzgonx_STh2-KphMG065TJX5mPTuVgYzUZpYdtIdT5IKWA/s1600/photo+(6).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKCm_xj6pOgfTGtBXbU-AzUsjKGWd5nP17oQNpN532htvUObACF6Ol74dIQK3yVLP2hMpUIuf-eLjym3MrVntH2b3nMyVsHbzgonx_STh2-KphMG065TJX5mPTuVgYzUZpYdtIdT5IKWA/s320/photo+(6).JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had also been wanting to do a quilt using yellow, grey, black, and white and had these prints pulled out for a while waiting for the perfect project. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnwSP4Wb3E6hOK06TEquuzDSUkstTyA9brW-Xwj70kGVZHekMVT-pJ8V5tiK-RiUvgTQiJffPBWZClDhwYNhsGdQODNxRqXZ2-90pL4qxoZ9KtWhtBYgUc-akew9UImlJ2qk4ak3QCJK0/s1600/photo+(5).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnwSP4Wb3E6hOK06TEquuzDSUkstTyA9brW-Xwj70kGVZHekMVT-pJ8V5tiK-RiUvgTQiJffPBWZClDhwYNhsGdQODNxRqXZ2-90pL4qxoZ9KtWhtBYgUc-akew9UImlJ2qk4ak3QCJK0/s320/photo+(5).JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The colors with the hexagons really give the feeling of a bee hive. Little did I know that Melissa means honey bee, how perfect?<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8vFmaQC0R-EQ6L04sst8ElJwS8ekuLfNP_oXakKArhQGPqJozvyuDf_tzTyBUIl3MG9C5fdOf12TrCWj5bCCH-NZP3rRB9Br6Mp6UEPbnoH5GCVXuyfMkxV1Am0haZirC3V5Ruolp6Zo/s1600/photo+(4).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8vFmaQC0R-EQ6L04sst8ElJwS8ekuLfNP_oXakKArhQGPqJozvyuDf_tzTyBUIl3MG9C5fdOf12TrCWj5bCCH-NZP3rRB9Br6Mp6UEPbnoH5GCVXuyfMkxV1Am0haZirC3V5Ruolp6Zo/s320/photo+(4).JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also found the perfect place to take pictures of my quilts, would you believe this place is right behind my husband's work? Only in Austin would you have something so natural and beautiful behind an office building.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTxkD8mJVOZmSKaSm8NLysJkzd-txmkLfunMNi73gG31ycv0t345lNeV-eDK7HNydk_rg_TxiFORgOoI-3IxlWDzKY3sPlwkYx7gyDEHxhERzXUObs466HTJnUW3oQ1K-fatMjMykHC1c/s1600/photo+(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTxkD8mJVOZmSKaSm8NLysJkzd-txmkLfunMNi73gG31ycv0t345lNeV-eDK7HNydk_rg_TxiFORgOoI-3IxlWDzKY3sPlwkYx7gyDEHxhERzXUObs466HTJnUW3oQ1K-fatMjMykHC1c/s320/photo+(3).JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I am so pleased with the finished product and can't wait to do another hexagon quilt! </div>

It's been a while, I know, but I was (and still am) working on secret projects. I had to wait, keep my pictures to myself until I gifted these projects. This particular project went to my mother-in-law when she came to visit last week.<br />

<br />
I made this quilt using the <a href="http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2008/10/how-to-make-ragged-squares-quilt.html" target="_blank">Ragged Squares</a> tutorial at <a href="http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">crazymomquilts</a>. It is a great pattern for beginners or for someone looking to make up a cute quilt quickly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJWFufZugigYKuLFYadIT-DzOU7MMIoJj1XHPGO1-7w7w9ysItPw0DiENY25QG_0M0v_ogZTyX89urlDaPhEs9f1Yp6FCP9IRJw65Ephw80OHDz4QOgxkD1x0SXwrTTdNKvVNgxRAOcJw/s1600/600666_772177174776_497926513_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJWFufZugigYKuLFYadIT-DzOU7MMIoJj1XHPGO1-7w7w9ysItPw0DiENY25QG_0M0v_ogZTyX89urlDaPhEs9f1Yp6FCP9IRJw65Ephw80OHDz4QOgxkD1x0SXwrTTdNKvVNgxRAOcJw/s1600/600666_772177174776_497926513_n.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
I quilted squares in between the fabric squares and in the ditch at the block intersections which looked great on the front and the back and was simple to just quilt by eye instead of marking.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3xDjo5wh0Ncg-L7ZnuEDD4tmaw4kEX7_n326zUxrj7Yh3CczqNKxl8QtLeEoRUROZG5zIcboMM4GJFjoFJVRgtXan69wUw2NgOJ7V3S0fYDs9LBniQU2GFLaWCrTX-0yuMqR2nbLBTac/s1600/536398_772176800526_1746527445_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3xDjo5wh0Ncg-L7ZnuEDD4tmaw4kEX7_n326zUxrj7Yh3CczqNKxl8QtLeEoRUROZG5zIcboMM4GJFjoFJVRgtXan69wUw2NgOJ7V3S0fYDs9LBniQU2GFLaWCrTX-0yuMqR2nbLBTac/s1600/536398_772176800526_1746527445_n.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I have a feeling this quilt will be made again, it makes up a great gift that anyone would love to have, even if just for yourself.Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00018939579531449759noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784279713521170025.post-24632117343621111132012-10-08T10:15:00.001-07:002012-10-08T10:15:51.897-07:00Giddy<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Got this in the mail Friday, it has made my weekend! I am not too sure what I am going to do with it but I am in love. <span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I finished my Ship! Now I am going to do a lining in the bag to keep the stitches from showing in the back. <span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I thought I would share with you today a quilt that is in my <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/SayKayQuilts" target="_blank">Etsy Store</a>. For the moment it is the only thing in my store, but I am working on that. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I made this quilt using simple half triangle squares but I spent a lot of time deciding how I was going to layout all those squares. I think that was half the fun of making this quilt, there are endless possibilities in the design. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWk3rMrWcU-BSK5r-v2sz30w7hB5G5GLxXJdHSNYXWrC0eiaR9j0UjuHVeJObB8XS8QvEkgeycBX8JxHG-lSkiTUoawwqxXfphyiHTjw9gOOEI2NAbmcNeezJF0KNvttvi_aIsHJyaoa0/s1600/251529_753130684096_2083573236_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWk3rMrWcU-BSK5r-v2sz30w7hB5G5GLxXJdHSNYXWrC0eiaR9j0UjuHVeJObB8XS8QvEkgeycBX8JxHG-lSkiTUoawwqxXfphyiHTjw9gOOEI2NAbmcNeezJF0KNvttvi_aIsHJyaoa0/s320/251529_753130684096_2083573236_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I did something a little different for me and backed this quilt with a print instead of a solid or muslin like I usually do. I think it made it special to do a print on the back and it really makes the binding pop from the back. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-SZkpe9NFbXMz2IaWKUQtrJLa0XzoNRu3zO5WhjurwIEQ_j3FSt0XFeBch9_dt3OTLtg0f-SjRAyTI7ElIAjcBQKAiOVsakijJ4JBQMKUJBvG43z_NEPKKLO3rQmj6HDSV9KPUIzOudk/s1600/293059_753131058346_518907469_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-SZkpe9NFbXMz2IaWKUQtrJLa0XzoNRu3zO5WhjurwIEQ_j3FSt0XFeBch9_dt3OTLtg0f-SjRAyTI7ElIAjcBQKAiOVsakijJ4JBQMKUJBvG43z_NEPKKLO3rQmj6HDSV9KPUIzOudk/s320/293059_753131058346_518907469_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I ended up calling this quilt the "Time Traveler" quilt because of the amazing fabric used. It is filled with old bikes, clocks, stamps, travel stamps and flowers all with a sort of Victorian flair, even slightly steampunk in a way. It makes one want to go there, back in time. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Anyways, this quilt is up in the shop, head on over there if you are interested. It would make a great gift for a friend or for yourself!</span>Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00018939579531449759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784279713521170025.post-79926287276130951072012-09-28T07:09:00.000-07:002012-09-28T07:09:54.804-07:00By Hand<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have been working on this ship for the past few weeks and I have really enjoyed it. I usually have a project on the sewing machine going and some sort of project by hand going at the same time, it keeps me balanced. This ship is on a canvas tote bag, I have debated maybe lining it with something but I haven't decided yet. What are your thoughts? </span>Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00018939579531449759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784279713521170025.post-41158431750128782342012-09-27T08:49:00.001-07:002012-09-27T08:49:54.570-07:00Birds and the Bees<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I gave you a teaser last week so I figured I should make good on my promise. I finished up this quilt the other week and I LOVE it! The fabric is Tula Pink's "Birds and the Bees" which I got from <a href="http://www.pinkchalkfabrics.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=37_47_811" target="_blank">Pink Chalk Fabrics</a>. I also have a quilt top done using her "Nightshade" line that needs to be quilted but is on the back burner for now until I finish up a few other things. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I used <a href="http://www.thehappyzombie.com/" target="_blank">Monica Solorio-Snow's</a> pattern called "Taking Turns" out of the Spring 2012 issue of Quilts and More from Better Homes and Gardens. Which was a great pattern, perfect for beginners or someone wanting a quick quilt. I picked that pattern because I thought it was prefect for showing off some of the bigger prints used in this line of fabric.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Wouldn't you agree? I couldn't bear the thought of chopping up those dear little squirrels or those lovely trees! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Anyways, I did some straight line quilting on this one, as I always do. I need to learn free motion quilting but I am sure I will get around to it one of these days!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Like many people my age, I live in an apartment. I was thinking about it the other day and I have lived in either an apartment or a dorm for the past 8 years. The last time I lived in a house was my parent's house which feels like yesterday.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Anyways, living in an apartment or small home you run into some space issues. I have a love hate relationship with this, it forces you to get rid of things you don't need or keep from buying things you don't need but it makes it hard to store things you do need. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">One thing I always wanted in an apartment is space in my "laundry room" (really closet instead of room) for a trash can. So, being the genius that I am, I came up with one, I hung a plastic grocery bag on a clothes hanger from my hanging rack. I don't have a picture of this but I think you can get a mental image, it was tacky. I did that for a while then I broke down a few weeks ago and made something a bit prettier. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I started with a simple bag, about the size of a grocery bag, with boxed corners. I lined it, made some small button holes and used drapery hooks I had lying around to attach them to my shelf.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here is a close up of my button hole with the drapery hook. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I ended up making a smaller one too for my lingerie bags and small bottle of spot remover. I think they look great, and they took me maybe 30 minutes start to finish. I have a feeling I may be making some more for other areas of the house that need some storage. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">A little secret to making a quick little baby quilt, or a quick quilt all together is doing what is known as a whole cloth quilt. There is no patchwork involved, no blocks to sew up, just a simple quilt sandwich to quilt and bind. It is best to use fabric that is interesting or in this case use a printed panel. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Panels are sold on the bolt, and priced by the panel. Usually they will be part of a set with corresponding fabrics or they will include everything you need on the panel itself. Some printed panels will have kits on them for making various things such as aprons, tote bags, Christmas stockings, etc. Those panels are great for beginner sewers as are the printed panels with just a scene.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> This fun panel had a cute, modern Noah's ark scene, perfect for either a boy or a girl. I backed it with muslin and bound it with a great aqua gingham. </span><br />

I am so blessed to have the husband I have. He made me the new header and I am thrilled with it! I sat next to him telling him what I pictured and he did it better than what I wanted! Needless to say I am very thankful for him.<br />
<br />
I thought I would keep it short and sweet today so this quilt is just a little sneak peak of what will come next week.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I had been thinking about making a rag quilt for a while now, just something simple and fun, a little different from my normal projects. So I sewed up this little guy. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaKmhSvzG2CNgalPaqc-aeXa7GrFeeFCAk4_U_t6jREurV1nomJejpqFsVHHmaoyvnUVRKuOFMfOLeyJhswD_8nTU-0AI_vYVkCUeyclDwTUXFb1bwObnHxrVtmZG5xXFK-ysHi-K1vBg/s1600/313681_741226759656_776291588_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaKmhSvzG2CNgalPaqc-aeXa7GrFeeFCAk4_U_t6jREurV1nomJejpqFsVHHmaoyvnUVRKuOFMfOLeyJhswD_8nTU-0AI_vYVkCUeyclDwTUXFb1bwObnHxrVtmZG5xXFK-ysHi-K1vBg/s320/313681_741226759656_776291588_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I had several pairs of old jeans saved up so this was the perfect project for them. I simply cut 6.5" squares out of denim and flannel, placed them on top of each other with right sides out, sewed an X through the squares, then I sewed my squares together using a 1/2" seam allowance and sewed a 1/2" line around the quilt. After the quilt was put together I cut into the seams a bit so it would fray then ran it through the washer and dryer.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I loved this method of rag quilting because using flannel and denim keeps you from having to use any batting. Perfect for a child or to take with you to any fall football games. </span>Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00018939579531449759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6784279713521170025.post-57717608694891108722012-09-19T08:58:00.000-07:002012-09-19T08:58:06.124-07:00Bird Ornaments<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> While I was making my Bird wall hanging I thought it would be fun to make some little bird ornaments. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I practiced a bit of what I call "dirty sewing" where you don't really follow the rules or do things "professionally". I knew these were for me, in my house, and I have no plans of washing these things or even having them be heavily used. So with that in mind I just took two birds that face opposite directions, put them on top of each other with a bird shaped piece of scrap paper in between, placed the ribbon on top and zig-zagged around the edge. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I like the way they look, a little primitive maybe, but I like that. I then placed them on this metal rack thingy I got from goodwill years ago. I think it is meant for coffee mugs, I bought it thinking I could put jewelry on it or maybe hang my scissors on it. I did hang my scissors on it for a while but I found it just didn't really work that well. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I am not entirely sure what lead me down the path to make this wall hanging. I wanted a wall hanging for my living room that matched my sorta spice colored decor and this is what happened.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRtUdpEoU_xsAo9vF0_NbMJ1nXU__cG52Z7peOT1Z6NltiKVdk8P_jaD1Bf_bQZP_OOLiYkPZvb-StOPPtdI5_i2KmblRQP5NShxvkwk-LqqBsQ6fl8qql55BU6afefSMclOVR-jv7UZ0/s1600/599606_740856716226_229489066_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRtUdpEoU_xsAo9vF0_NbMJ1nXU__cG52Z7peOT1Z6NltiKVdk8P_jaD1Bf_bQZP_OOLiYkPZvb-StOPPtdI5_i2KmblRQP5NShxvkwk-LqqBsQ6fl8qql55BU6afefSMclOVR-jv7UZ0/s320/599606_740856716226_229489066_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I used scraps for everything except the binding, that was in my stash. I straight stitched the wings on the birds then I zig-zagged the birds onto the muslin squares. I stitched in the ditch to quilt it and added two small button holes at the top so I could hang it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1WxjtTQANUUGrEqSgR6_yl1cdNpuiEN8EK5dsRllNlwbZcAJ201QX2Es83ku2HNoaFYqo9BSDp2ByKsI4B8OVAyqYwSa6F9VroQnFPqpcVwW_pzl451VC-f1TmgX7vXPjGOldmpKYfCw/s1600/418536_740856576506_76058066_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1WxjtTQANUUGrEqSgR6_yl1cdNpuiEN8EK5dsRllNlwbZcAJ201QX2Es83ku2HNoaFYqo9BSDp2ByKsI4B8OVAyqYwSa6F9VroQnFPqpcVwW_pzl451VC-f1TmgX7vXPjGOldmpKYfCw/s320/418536_740856576506_76058066_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
It was really quick and easy to make, I actually was shocked when I finished so quickly and I think it looks pretty good on my wall. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYSflZmaqUHyzja9f4XAkN8HszQkz_RT3DStvfAIQokblSSpZ0S_Rcy6Ye42exT77Qw_O87CDEgspNybvH5QfLWvuAJsjzLnNNjjlaEZKHsJ8xgfzFeUm9YBbZzy9JHFpHti3YignCZoU/s1600/428849_740003695686_1422964438_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYSflZmaqUHyzja9f4XAkN8HszQkz_RT3DStvfAIQokblSSpZ0S_Rcy6Ye42exT77Qw_O87CDEgspNybvH5QfLWvuAJsjzLnNNjjlaEZKHsJ8xgfzFeUm9YBbZzy9JHFpHti3YignCZoU/s320/428849_740003695686_1422964438_n.jpg" width="240" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This quilt really had quite the evolution. I got the idea for the color scheme from the book <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Sunday-Morning-Quilts-Projects-Treasured/dp/1607054272/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347898057&sr=8-1&keywords=sunday+morning+quilts" target="_blank">Sunday Morning Quilts</a> (which my husband saw me eyeing and ordered for me as a surprise). One of the projects in the book is called Splash which is primarily aqua with one orange block all slab pieced together. I loved to color combo and decided to start collecting shades of orange and aqua and as I collected I thought they went nicely with some lime green I already had. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCtjOoUJTwz_m1KcsJOzNhdWRVjR4192Ph-yQGf124bS7uvYbDHfZ_0HwOZhZ04koEY5PFx_ZznDD8INP1lRLz64uVcqimmtYMdt5CDjGgu80HctXWeuSkSf4Swnsbr38EJ3BdZBPEBZM/s1600/387093_740003880316_1165907170_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCtjOoUJTwz_m1KcsJOzNhdWRVjR4192Ph-yQGf124bS7uvYbDHfZ_0HwOZhZ04koEY5PFx_ZznDD8INP1lRLz64uVcqimmtYMdt5CDjGgu80HctXWeuSkSf4Swnsbr38EJ3BdZBPEBZM/s320/387093_740003880316_1165907170_n.jpg" width="240" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Once I got my fabrics collected I wasn't too sure if the pattern from the book would really work with what I had. The whole book is really meant for scraps and I had a few half yard cuts. So I went looking for another pattern. I found one in <a href="http://www.quiltmag.com/" target="_blank">Quilt</a> Magazine from August/September 2011 called In and Out. It was simple and perfect for bright colors and prints. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihqdl-rmWNeeiMwHD_VjF4O_q7YtKOc8lTA8D6GdieWcIS6arpv2cw5ASTcWJD4Rm9fctHmbVDO9rznrZmnmVtW3mlPRVhH4TSO9Qa_lcqqEUOmqlyD2yBipbGO2NAmxklAoQpn3LV8O0/s1600/603525_740003625826_1348036584_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihqdl-rmWNeeiMwHD_VjF4O_q7YtKOc8lTA8D6GdieWcIS6arpv2cw5ASTcWJD4Rm9fctHmbVDO9rznrZmnmVtW3mlPRVhH4TSO9Qa_lcqqEUOmqlyD2yBipbGO2NAmxklAoQpn3LV8O0/s320/603525_740003625826_1348036584_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">As I was working on this quilt my sister Kristen fell in love with it and seeing as how she was the only sister at the time who didn't have a quilt made for her (not counting my sister-in-law which I am working on) I had to give it to her. And it really only made sense because these are her colors for the world. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I had to add the big lime green border around it to make it a full size for her bed but I think it makes a nice frame for the patchwork. I quilted it with orange thread and bound it with an orange batik. This was also the first quilt I quilted on my new <a href="http://www.babylock.com/a-line/jane/" target="_blank">Babylock Jane</a> and it quilted like a dream. It was so easy to fit the full size quilt under the throat of the machine that it felt like I was doing a lap size. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I had a blast making this quilt, I finished it all in July and it proved to be a super fun summer project. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Back when I was working at the fabric store in Clarksville,TN the assistant manager gave me these appliqued blocks. She knew I was doing some quilting and thought they would go to a good home, she also said she had a ton more and wanted to get rid of some. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">How did she get so many blocks? Well, a family member of hers was going through chemo and wanted something she could do by hand during that time. So she hand appliqued all these blocks. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">These blocks sat on my shelf for about a year before I did anything with them. I wasn't too sure what colors to go with. I knew I needed some dusty colors but I never saw anything in the store I liked. I would constantly bring those blocks in with me searching for something, anything that would go with them. The style and color scheme were both challenges for me because it's not what I am drawn to. But thankfully I finally found this dusty pink with dots and that amazing grey with a small floral print. The color and style matched perfectly! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I simply did some sashing around all my blocks and made a big grey border, anything else would have been overkill. Then to quilt it I just stitched in the ditch for most of it. This quilt is also special because I pieced the top in Nashville and quilted it in Austin. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I signed the back and gave this quilt to my parents, I think it will be well taken care of with them. </span>Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00018939579531449759noreply@blogger.com0
